A Modern Company

In order to become a truly "modern company in all respects, we must..."
  1. concentrate on steel
  2. restructure business as required
  3. rebuild financial strength
  4. maintain appropriate liquidity
  5. return to sustained profitability
  6. enhance stockholder value
  7. emphasize human resource capabilities and have a safe and healthy workplace
  8. be a low cost and high quality producer
  9. provide superior customer service
  10. emphasize total quality, benchmarking, and re-engineering
  11. increase market share and receive fair value for products
  12. be a good corporate citizen and stress corporate responsibility

"But the reality is that we're only as good as we are today because our predecessors embraced change and the progress brought with change. They understand the need for change, and since change is inevitable, we, too should prepare for it and treat it as an opportunity."

Quoted From Curtis H. Barnette, Bethlehem Steel and the Lehigh Valley's Changing Industrial Scene, 1991
